How do we get started?
- First, complete the PreTest assessment to ensure that your are ready to complete this Webquest. A copy of the PreTest can be located under the evaluation tab at the top of this page. Complete the assessment and email or bring your PreTest to Mrs. Koehler; [email protected]. After reviewing your assessment, Mrs. Koehler will approve you for completing this Webquest and you can move on to step 2!
- Using the Lessons tab at the top of this Webquest, complete lessons one -five in order. Lesson one is all about learning how to select a piece of music for your voice range and identify music with two key signatures. By the last lesson you will be able to identify key signatures!
- With the links provided research how to identify key signatures in music and practice with the given examples.
- Write a brief summary of your findings on identifying key signatures. Make it succinct as this summary will eventually be part of your final movie presentation.
- Now to get started on your video which will be used to evaluate your completion of this Webquest. First, locate a piece of music that has two key signatures and fits your voice range. *Hint – Our choir music would work great! Use the rubric to outline your presentation for your video; make sure to include all the requirements for your final project!
- Time to get creative! Using your summary and new found knowledge, write a script for your movie. Remember you are demonstrating how to identify key signatures as simply as possible; a non-musician should be able to watch your video and be able to pick a piece of music and identify the key. Let the fun begin! You may use a school Flip camera, Movie Maker, or other device to create your video. Use your movie script to create a fun, entertaining, and informative movie to demonstrate this skill. The movie must be between 2 and 3 minutes in length. Points will be deducted if your movie is longer or shorter than the assigned length. Remember to add pictures, sound, captions, animations, and your voice to make your movie a success. Last, add credits to your movie citing the websites that helped you with your research.
